2024 WSST Sessions Conference Schedule

Explore the molecular world from a new perspective! Join 3D Molecular Designs at the 2024 WSST Sessions Conference in La Crosse to see how modeling transforms student learning.

Thursday, April 18th

1:00pm - 1:50pm || Riverside Ball B

Session Title: DNA Discovery Using 3DMD Models
Presenter: Stephanie Ruder
Session Description: Discover how 3D Molecular Designs' kits are used to teach DNA’s structure and function in PLTW Principles of Biomedical Science classes. This can easily be converted to any Biology class. Students explore the structure of DNA using the Dynamic DNA models and showing them the DNA Starter Kit©. Then, learn how to tie in the structure of DNA with the Dynamic DNA model to the DNA in the Flow of Genetic Information Kit© and the Chromosome Connections Kit©. The NGSS standard that this will connect to is HS-LS1 – From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes.

3:00pm - 3:50am || Riverside Ball B
Session Title: From Atoms to Oceans: Modeling the Properties of Water
Presenter: Mark Arnholt
Session Description: Dive deep into water's secrets! Harness 3D models to unravel states of matter, polar covalent bonding, solubility, and beyond in an immersive journey.
Featured kits and models: Water Kit©, NaCl Lattice©

Friday, April 19th

10:00am - 10:50am || Meeting B
Session Title: Biotech Breakthrough! Biotechnology Accessibility Through 3D Models and Design Challenges
Presenter: Mark Arnholt
Session Description: Empower all your students to unlock the secrets of enzyme specificity through biotech engineering design challenges, using dynamic physical models and student-created models.

2:00pm - 2:50pm || Meeting C
Session Title: Journey from Sequence to Structure with Amino Acids Unveiled!
Presenter: Mark Arnholt
Session Description: Decode the language of proteins! Unveil the mystery of amino acids and protein folding with confidence through hands-on modeling.
Featured kits and models: Amino Acid Starter Kit©
